Akshita Verma

Akshita Verma, a postgraduate in Forensic Science, is professionally trained to teach and has worked for over two years as a Lecturer at the Department of Forensic Science, Jain (Deemed-to-be) University, Bengaluru. She helped in organizing and conducting field visits and seminars at the department. Apart from course modules, she helped in guiding students towards formal research writing. She has created a Quiz on Chromatography for SIFS in 2020. Coming from a Life Science background from the University of Delhi, she switched to Forensic Science by first undertaking a year-long Post-Graduate Diploma from S.G.T.B. Khalsa College, University of Delhi, and got exposed to research in the field of Fingerprint examination. She then completed her post-graduation with a specialization in Forensic Chemistry and Toxicology from NICFS, MHA, Delhi. She was awarded a Book Scholar Grant worth 10K/- during the course. She has conducted research for her dissertation and In-house project in the field of drug analysis. She has acquired hands-on training in analyzing forensic chemistry, toxicology, and explosive case samples from Delhi CFSL and RFSL. She has also undergone training in maintaining the chain of custody from Mobile Crime Lab, FSL, Delhi. Alongside she has actively participated in poster and research presentations at various conferences. In addition, she is FACT- Chemical Science qualified (Forensic Aptitude and Calibre Test’ 2018). She also has a few publications in peer-reviewed journals under her name. Her major teaching and research interest lies in the field of forensic drug analysis and forensic toxicology along with instrumental techniques.
