Dr. Kavita Lakha is currently working as Special Investigator and Forensic Anthropologist at National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Johannesburg Area, South Africa. She has completed her
BSc -Undergraduate degree at the University of the Witwatersrand and has also done Hon in Anatomy at the University of the Witwatersrand.
She has received the Nelson Mandela Scholarship and studies at the University of Central Lancashire where she did a Master’s Degree in Forensic Anthropology and Crime Scene Investigation. She has received her PhD in Human Biology at the University of Cape Town in 2016.
She began working for the Missing Persons Task Team in 2009 and currently still serve as the Forensic Anthropologist. The Missing Persons Task team is responsible for locating and recovering the remains of individuals who died during the human rights abuse of Apartheid in South Africa. She has also experience in ballistic trauma, explosive trauma, juvenile age estimation (area of strength).
