Annigeri Genocide

In 2017, an area’s drainage expansion was planned in Annigeri in Karnataka's Dharwad district.

During the expansion work, numerous rows of human skulls were found. Immediately, a team of forensic experts was roped in for an investigation by the local authorities.

The skulls were sent to a forensic lab, and after thorough examination and developing a statistical formula to understand the results, it was concluded by the forensic odontologists that the skulls are of both men and women.

Further analysis by the team showed that the skulls dated back to 1790, eventually contributing to the detection of crime and providing justice.
